Queen Rania Meets with Arab Women's Day Activists and Listens to Their Local Sucesses and Challenges

(The Jordan Times - Madaba) Her Majesty Queen Rania on Wednesday met with women activists working under the Women's Empowerment for Democracy and Governance Project — MAKANA in Madaba and underlined the importance of their role in addressing problems facing local communities.

Under the MAKANA project, women volunteers help address domestic daily life problems in their areas through listening to local demands and conveying these to officials.

Moving away from traditional techniques and designs she had learned and developed through working with the Bani Hamida initiative, she found it difficult at first to create modern products.

“It was strange at first, and even though it is just work, I like the way it turned out,” she said.

Queen Rania Distributes Winter Coats to Children During Visit to Umm Ammar School

Her Majesty Queen Rania on Monday distributed 800 coats to students at the Umm Ammar Secondary Comprehensive School in Al Mahatta.

Launching this year’s “Winter Coat Campaign” on behalf of His Majesty King Abdullah, the Queen visited the school’s kindergarten and several other classrooms, according to a Royal Court statement.

Queen Rania Distinguished Teacher Award Steering Committee Convenes Meeting

(Jordan Times - Amman) Her Majesty Queen Rania on Wednesday chaired a meeting of the Queen Rania Distinguished Teacher Award steering committee, during which members focused on the award’s future action plan.

The Queen expressed satisfaction with the award’s effect as a tool to enhance teachers’ performance. The committee, comprising representatives of the Education Ministry, the private sector, and non-profit institutions, endorsed an award for distinguished school principal, to be launched next year.

Queen Rania describes 'Operation Smile' as a group that is changing the face of the world

(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department - Amman) Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah commended the work of doctors and volunteers who seek to put a smile on the faces of children by operating on those suffering from facial deformities as part of Operation Smile programs worldwide.

Describing Operation Smile as “a group that is changing the face of the world,” Queen Rania said “the greatest success of the organization is in sharing and spreading knowledge. For, in this way, the chain of giving just keeps growing longer and stronger.”

Queen Rania Joins 250 Women from Around the World in Their March for Peace and Security

(Office of Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah- Press Department, Jaber Border/Village) Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah, on Wednesday, was on hand to receive a group of women cyclists from 20 countries who are cycling for peace across the Middle East.

The 250 participating women started their ten-day journey which on September 15 in Beirut, and are cycling a route of nearly 300 km taking them through Syria, Jordan and continuing to Jericho in Palestine.
