Queen Rania Attends Global Thinkers Forum (GTF) Discussion Panel

(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department- AMMAN) – Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah attended a panel on “the new MENA societies”, as part of the Global Thinkers Forum 2012 (GTF), held under Her Majesty’s Patronage over 2 days in Amman this week. The panel, which followed the official opening of the forum earlier in the morning, focused on Middle East and North Africa region women, the problems and challenges they face, and their potential.

Queen Rania Inaugurates JRF’s 13th Annual Handicrafts Exhibition

(Jordan Times, Press Department - Amman) Nahed was at first uncomfortable learning new ways of weaving.

Moving away from traditional techniques and designs she had learned and developed through working with the Bani Hamida initiative, she found it difficult at first to create modern products.

“It was strange at first, and even though it is just work, I like the way it turned out,” she said.

Arab Expatriate Women Discuss Challenges of life abroad

(The Jordan Times, By Dalya Dajani - AMMAN) Reactions by Western communities against Arab women and families living among them after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on Washington and New York ranked high on the delegates’ agenda at the opening session of the Arab Expatriate Women’s Forum.

The multinational group of leading feminists and gender-equality campaigners from 19 member countries of the Arab League expressed particular concern for Arab and Muslim expatriate communities subjected to harassment.

Queen Rania Meets with UNICEF Executive Director

(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department- Amman) Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah met today with Mr. Anthony Lake, UNICEF Executive Director. The meeting focused on the important role that Her Majesty plays in her capacity as a UNICEF Eminent Advocate for Children.
Mr. Lake briefed the Queen on UNICEF’s latest programs and progress achieved in providing care to women and children locally and in the region, and in raising awareness about their rights.

Queen Rania Visits Women’s Branch of Circassian Charity Association

(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department- Amman) – Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah made a visit to the women’s branch of the Circassian Charity Association in Amman. Her Majesty was received by H.E. Jeanette Mufti, Head of the Association and Mrs. Hind Hamoqa, Director of the Association.

During the visit, Her Majesty met with a group of the association’s members, who briefed her on the different projects that they implement and toured the building’s facilities, including the productive kitchen.
