Queen Rania Checks Up on JRF’s Youth Career Initiative

(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department- Amman) – Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah met with trainees, parents, and supervisors of the Jordan River Foundation (JRF) Youth Career Initiative (YCI) in Amman today, to check up on the program and hear from them the benefits and advantages that the initiative has provided its participants.

Queen Rania urges officials to expedite Ajloun development plans

(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department - Amman) While Ajloun was snowed in after the blizzard that affected the Kingdom, Her Majesty Queen Rania called in at the Ministry of Tourism and Environment to discuss its future development plans.

Queen Rania was briefed by officials on the Urban Regeneration and Tourism Development Master Plan for Ajloun Governorate which seeks to make use of the landscape and agricultural resources of the area, capitalizing on its touristic, agricultural and environmental potential to achieve sustainable socio-economic development.

(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department - Amman) Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah on highlighted the ability of Jordan's tourism industry to compete with its counterparts in the region.

Participating in a meeting organized by the Board of Directors of the Jordan Tourism Board (JTB), Queen Rania said that Jordan is able to offer tourists a "great product" covering history, culture, and tradition.

Jordan's tourist attractions, she added, should be presented to visitors through a "modern" and tourist-friendly infrastructure.

1) Are you working on eco-tourism projects in Jordan, and if so, what are your favorites and what makes them special?

I don’t work specifically on eco tourism, although I support the excellent work of the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature (RSCN), the NGO mandated by the government to oversee the development of Jordan’s nature reserves. They’ve been given a great boost recently because the jewel in their conservation crown, Dana Nature Reserve, has won 4 international awards for sustainable ecotourism.
