(Jordan Times - Amman) Her Majesty Queen Rania on Wednesday launched the second stage of the Jordan Education Initiative (JEI) and its strategic plans for the next three years.
At a meeting yesterday, attended by JEI board members and principal partners, the Queen praised the JEI’s continued ability to draw more partners from various areas of the world five years after its launch, saying this attests to the initiative’s success.

(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department - Amman) Accompanying US First Lady, Laura Bush, Her Majesty Queen Rania, on Sunday, joined students and youth, from INJAZ Program and Discovery School Programs, in exploring their future dreams and aspirations, during a visit to the Sweifyeh Secondary School for Girls.
Mrs. Bush and Queen Rania were, upon their arrival, greeted by the School’s principal and students, in addition to Minister of Education, Khaled Touqan, before joining grade-two students in their E-Math class.

(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department - Amman) Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah on highlighted the ability of Jordan's tourism industry to compete with its counterparts in the region.
Participating in a meeting organized by the Board of Directors of the Jordan Tourism Board (JTB), Queen Rania said that Jordan is able to offer tourists a "great product" covering history, culture, and tradition.
Jordan's tourist attractions, she added, should be presented to visitors through a "modern" and tourist-friendly infrastructure.

(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department - Amman) Their Majesties King Abdullah and Queen Rania on Monday visited children at Al Hussein Social Institution in Al Ashrafieh, which provides care for orphaned children.
The King and Queen spent part of the afternoon with the institution's 132 resident children to check on their conditions as part of the King's efforts to keep in touch with members of the Jordanian community, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.
Prior to the visit, King Abdullah made sure that the institution had received all its requirements.

(The Jordan Times, By Sahar Alul - Amman) Although the digital divide has been addressed in terms of access to Information Communications Technology (ICT) equipment, interested parties gathered to discuss bridging the ICT gender gap.
“We can use this time of change to change more than our access to computers, we can use it to help change ideas, attitudes and even dreams,” said Minister of Education Khalid Touqan in his keynote address at the “`E'-quality in the IT sector” conference.
