(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department - Geneva) As part of her efforts in promoting the rights of children, Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah visited the headquarters of the International Labor Organization (ILO) in Geneva, following a $1 million expansion of the National Program for the Prevention and Elimination of Child Labor in Jordan.
The program, funded by the US Department of Labor, is scheduled to start operation in January 2003 with the aim of contributing to the elimination and prevention of child labor in Jordan.

(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department- Amman) Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah met today with Mr. Anthony Lake, UNICEF Executive Director. The meeting focused on the important role that Her Majesty plays in her capacity as a UNICEF Eminent Advocate for Children.
Mr. Lake briefed the Queen on UNICEF’s latest programs and progress achieved in providing care to women and children locally and in the region, and in raising awareness about their rights.

(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department- Amman) In celebration of Mothers’ Day Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah visited Dar Ri’ayat Al Yateem Orphanage in Bayader Wadi Seer in Amman.
Her Majesty celebrated the occasion with caregivers and orphans; commending the caregivers and mothers on the selfless role they play to help raise orphans across the kingdom.

(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department- Amman) – Queen Rania of Jordan launched “Lily and Salma” this week, the Arabic edition of Her Majesty’s children’s picture book “the Sandwich Swap”.
During a visit to the Zaha Cultural Center in Amman today, Her Majesty read excerpts of the New York Times best-seller to the children who gathered in the center’s library.
Following the book reading Her Majesty distributed copies of Salma & Lily to the children, who were ecstatic to see and hear Her Majesty reading the story to them.

(Office of Her Majesty- Press Department- Amman) Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah paid a surprise visit, today, to the Children's Museum, a non-profit organization launched by Queen Rania, in 2007, to encourage and nurture lifelong learning in children and their families.
During her tour, Her Majesty met with students, from different public schools, who told her how these educational programs and interactive learning experiences inspired them and increased their knowledge throughout play.

(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department- Italy) Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan today attended the 60th Anniversary of the San Remo Music Festival in Italy to rally support for the 1GOAL global education campaign which seeks to get 72 million out-of-school children back into the classroom in the run-up to the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa.
