(Office of Her Majesty – Press Department – Amman) - Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah visited the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) headquarters today to follow up on its children’s programs and inaugurate the “View Amman” project.
Visiting the exhibit area, Her Majesty was briefed by Head of the Provisional Committee of GAM, Ammar Gharaibeh, on the project, the Amman Children’s Map, the King Abdullah II House of Culture & Art and GAM’s future projects.

(Office of Her Majesty – Press Department – Athens) - In recognition of her humanitarian role and efforts globally, Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah, on Thursday, received a warm welcome at the ELPIDA Guest House in Athens, an establishment of the Friends' Association for Children with Cancer, ELPIDA, as part of a two-day trip to the Greek capital with His Majesty King Abdullah.

Ayman is a soft-spoken 14-year old boy from Jabalia City, Gaza. His family is poor, as his father has been unemployed since March 2006. Ayman’s parents have already sold almost all their furniture to pay for food and schooling for their children. Recently, after collecting a governmental food handout, Ayman’s father had to sell the milk to get the money for the journey back home.

(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department - Amman) The Ma’an campaign was launched today under the Patronage of Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with UNICEF to reduce violence in all public and UNRWA schools in Jordan. Following this week’s high-level meeting held by the National Alliance Group presided over by Her Majesty Queen Rania, the Ma’an campaign is committed to make classrooms a safer place for learning by encouraging teachers to adopt and maintain non-violent disciplinary practices.

(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department - Amman) Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah commended the work of doctors and volunteers who seek to put a smile on the faces of children by operating on those suffering from facial deformities as part of Operation Smile programs worldwide.
Describing Operation Smile as “a group that is changing the face of the world,” Queen Rania said “the greatest success of the organization is in sharing and spreading knowledge. For, in this way, the chain of giving just keeps growing longer and stronger.”

(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department- Amman) – Her Majesty Queen Rania paid a visit to the Zaha Cultural Center in Amman today. During the visit, Her Majesty read excerpts to the children, from Her New York Times’ best-seller children’s picture book “the Sandwich Swap”, titled “Salma & Lily” in Arabic in the center’s library.
After “story time”, Her Majesty distributed copies of Salma & Lily to the children, who were ecstatic to see and hear Her Majesty reading the story to them.

At the FIFA World Player Gala 2009 was an extraordinary personality and exceptional guest in the shape of Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan. Thanks to her commitment to the 1GOAL - Education for All initiative, which is an ambitious and important campaign that will change the lives of children living in poverty by helping to give them an education, Her Majesty was presented with the FIFA Presidential Award by the President of world football’s governing body, Joseph S.
