Queen Rania Underlines Jordan’s Humanitarian Role, Presents Aid to Cancer-stricken Iraqi Children

(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department – Amman) As part of efforts to provide medical and humanitarian aid to the Iraqi people, Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah, Chairperson of the Advisory Council of the STARS Foundation presented, on behalf of foundation, a donation of $570,000 to the International Medical Corps (IMC) to help treat Iraqi children suffering from the most serious cases of cancer.

Queen Rania Accepts Role of Honorary President of the Jordan Society for the Care of Diabetes

Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah has accepted to become Honorary President of the Jordanian Society for the Care of Diabetes, the Kingdom's sole society aiming to combat the disease, and to provide care and financial assistance to its victims.

Queen Rania recently met with members of the Society, during which the President Dr. Mohammad Al Zahiri, invited the Queen to become the Honorary President of the Society.

Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah has accepted to become Chairperson of the Advisory Committee of the International Network on Water, Environment and Health, a program of the United Nations University dealing with the global water crisis threatening sustainable development.

A Century of Giving Back

Her face has been kissed by Time. Every crease and line around her eyes records a moment in her life, like the delicate rings in a tree trunk. Etched into her beautiful brown skin, more than one of these proud wrinkles symbolizes the many hardships she has endured over the years. Alone, her seven grown children (one for each day of the week) visit to keep her company and seek her counsel. With what little she has, she still gives what she can: wisdom, compassion, and a modest meal. She is Um Fawaz, from a small village in northern Jordan.
