(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department – Amsterdam) After forming and launching the Arab Sustainability Leadership Group (ASLG), Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah convened the network’s first meeting, Wednesday, while in Amsterdam.

“We have to use this window of opportunity to do the right thing,” said the Queen. The group will encourage businesses to balance profit with environmental protection, and equal opportunity.

(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department - Amman) The Middle East and North Africa region has witnessed a steady increase in the rate of exclusive breastfeeding since 1990 and parallel success in infant mortality reduction in the last 10 years.  Yet, despite the advances, the latest available figures reveal that only a modest 38 percent of infants in the region are exclusively breastfed from birth until their sixth month of age a figure barely above the global average of 36 percent but equal to the present performance in East Asia and the Pacific. On the occasion of World Breastfeeding Week

(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department - Amman) A group of orphaned children enjoyed a unique experience on what was their first ever plane ride on board a Royal Jordanian aircraft heading from Amman to Aqaba.

The trip, which included children, aged 6 to 13 years, from the SOS Villages in Amman, along with their supervisors, came about after Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah had met them at one of the interactive activities at Queen Rania Park, a facility of the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM), in Um Nuwara, last month.

The proceeds of the banquet, attended by chairman and founder of the ‘Jewel that is Jordan’ classic car tour, Jonathon Lyons, and Senator Akel Biltaji, as well as owners of classic cars from all over the world as well Jordanian businessmen and officials, will go to Al Aman Fund for the Future of Orphans.

(Royal Hashemite Court, Media & Communication Directorate - Amman) His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday called on people to hold on to optimism and hope, emphasising that the Kingdom is on the right track towards achievement and prosperity. 

(Royal Hashemite Court, Media & Communication Directorate - Amman) Their Majesties King Abdullah and Queen Rania on Monday met with a delegation of US congressional aides and reviewed the situation in the Middle East, efforts to push the peace process forward and bilateral cooperation.  

King Abdullah underlined the significance of a just and permanent peace settlement to the Middle East conflict, saying the region will continue to suffer from tension and instability as long as such a solution is not reached. 

(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department - London) As a member of the Board of Directors of GAVI, Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah spent Thursday evening highlighting the organization’s accomplishments, which include preventing over 3 million deaths since its inception.

Queen Rania also urged the fundraiser attendees to realize the personal and collective responsibility in investing in child health around the world.
