AMMAN (JT) - Her Majesty Queen Rania on Wednesday visited Dar Al Aman, the child safety centre affiliated with the Jordan River Foundation (JRF), to follow up on the facility’s progress and its work to protect young victims of abuse and neglect.
Queen Rania, who has chaired the JRF board of trustees since 1995, pioneered the first Arab initiative of its kind by establishing the Child Safety Programme in 1997.

(Royal Hashemite Court, Media & Communication Directorate - Petra) His Majesty King Abdullah today opened the Fourth Petra Conference of Nobel Laureates urging conference participants to lead hands-on involvement in the development of the Middle East. AMMAN (JT) - Their Majesties King Abdullah and Queen Rania on Sunday visited four hospitals in Amman and Irbid to check on the condition of 16 people injured in a recent road accident.
The accident, in which a passenger bus and a water tanker collided and plunged into a deep valley on the Amman-Jerash highway, claimed the lives of 21 people and injured 33 others.

(Jordan Times, Hana Namrouqa - Amman) Her Majesty Queen Rania, president of the National Council for Family Affairs (NCFA), on Monday took part in the launch of the national information system for family affairs and two guidebooks on local family-related regulations and research.
The NCFA, in cooperation with several government agencies and civil society institutions concerned with family issues, prepared the national information system for family affairs, a guidebook on family regulations and another on family studies and research.

(Jordan Times - Amman) Students from several public schools who participated in the second Creativity Festival Competition, organised by World Links Arab Region (WLAR), in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and USAID, were honoured on Monday.

(Royal Hashemite Court, Media & Communication Directorate - Amman) Jordan and Portugal on Sunday signed several agreements meant to cement bilateral ties, which were the focus of talks by His Majesty King Abdullah and visiting Portuguese President Anibal Cavaco Silva.
In a joint communiqué, the two sides said they are keen to develop and reinforce economic, trade and investment relations and build strategic cooperative ties in line with the Euro-Med Partnership.

(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department - Abu Dhabi) Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah, on Sunday, visited Abu Dhabi where she was briefed on the designs of several projects the emirate plans to implement on Saadiyat Island, which seek to transform the area into a cultural hub on the regional and international level.
The projects, estimated at $27 billion, include the construction of several international arts and maritime museums in addition to the Sheikh Zayed Museum, which will be devoted to the history and the traditions of Abu Dhabi.
