(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department - Amman) The Ma’an campaign was launched today under the Patronage of Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with UNICEF to reduce violence in all public and UNRWA schools in Jordan. Following this week’s high-level meeting held by the National Alliance Group presided over by Her Majesty Queen Rania, the Ma’an campaign is committed to make classrooms a safer place for learning by encouraging teachers to adopt and maintain non-violent disciplinary practices.

(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department - Amman) More than half of Jordan’s children experience physical violence in school settings, according to a recent national survey conducted by the United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF. The newly formed National Alliance Group presided over by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah, however, is determined to reverse these staggering figures and reduce the incidence of violence in schools by 90% over the next three years.

Addressing the participants, Queen Rania commended the progress achieved and highlighted the importance of boosting the fund’s financial resources to absorb a growing number of beneficiaries.

(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department - Jerash) Less than a year ago, two schools in the Governorate of Jerash were suffering from serious infrastructure problems: broken windows, crumbling walls, peeling paintwork, unpaved terrain, inadequate sanitary facilities, poor lighting.
For years, teachers and students at both the Jerash Elementary School for Girls and the Asma Bin Yazeed Elementary School were distracted by their schools’ deplorable conditions.

(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department - Amman) The Jordan River Foundation (JRF), on Sunday, presented Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah with a five-year strategic plan for its activities related to child safety and prevention of abuse.
Over the past few years, Queen Rania spearheaded efforts to raise awareness on the issue of child safety, bringing it to the forefront of national policy agendas in an effort to promote a culture of prevention that addresses the Jordanian community at large.

(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department- Salt) In conjunction with national efforts aimed at reforming the Vocational Training Corporation (VTC) and reduce youth unemployment, Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah, on Sunday, met with local and international VTC partners at the Al Salt Professional and Traditional Career Centre. In a meeting with Jordan’s Minister of Labor H.E. Ghazi Shbeikat and the Italian Ambassador in Jordan H.E. Francesco Franzoni, Queen Rania discussed efforts aimed at raising training standards in VTC’s across the Kingdom.
