(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department - Amman) Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah met with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, Wednesday, during his visit to Amman to discuss the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. During the meeting, Her Majesty noted the UN’s efforts in calling for an immediate end to the violence, but said that more pressure needs to be put on Israel.

Despite numerous calls on behalf of the international community for an immediate ceasefire, the situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate while the ability of relief agencies to assist is impeded, she said.

(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department – Marka) Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah lent a helping hand to volunteers at the Jordanian Hashemite Charity Commission as they loaded twenty two humanitarian relief trucks with nonperishable goods and medical supplies, Tuesday.

(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department – Amman) In an interview with CNN’s Fareed Zakaria, which airs on his new show GPS this Sunday at 12:00 and again at 17:00 GMT, Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah focused on the humanitarian crisis in Palestine and said the international community is failing the Palestinians.

During the interview, which was taped when Queen Rania was in New York last month, the Queen warned that these failures are linked to all the grievances and tragedies in the Arab world.

(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department - London) Her Majesty Queen Rania Al- Abdullah launched a major new appeal to provide medical and food aid to vulnerable Palestinians inside the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

Cherie Blair, the wife of British Prime Minister Tony Blair, joined Queen Rania in launching the appeal, which is hoped to raise half a million pounds to fund activities of the Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP), a British charity that provides medical assistance and rehabilitation services in the West Bank and Gaza.

(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department - Amman) In response to Her Majesty’s call to support the conflict-affected children of Gaza, four volunteers, will depart later this month to provide training and psycho-social support to several Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) servicing towns and areas unreached by UN agencies within the Gaza strip.
