Queen Rania Attends Child Survival Symposium in the U.S.

(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department - New York) At the turn of the century, world leaders came together to outline the most pressing needs and obstacles to be addressed and set a deadline for tackling them. They called these the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and the deadline for achieving them is 2015. As we approach 2015, many countries are on track to meet those deadlines, but most underdeveloped nations still have a long way to go.

(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department - Al Jiza) Schools across the Kingdom started their new academic year today after a long summer holiday; at Al Jiza Secondary School for Girls students said they were pleasantly surprised to be returning to school to find Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah on their campus.

Their Majesties King Abdullah II and Queen Rania Receive Spanish Royal Couple

(Royal Hashemite Court, Communication & Information Division - Amman) Their Majesties King Abdullah and Queen Rania Al-Abdullah on Monday received the Spanish royal couple, King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia, who started a three-day State visit to the country.

King Carlos and Queen Sofia are due to meet with Prime Minister Marouf Bakhit, Senate President Zeid Rifai and House Speaker Abdul Hadi Majali.

King Carlos was also scheduled to address the Spanish-Jordanian Business Forum.

(Royal Hashemite Court, Communication & Information Division - Amsterdam) Muslims living in Europe should take an active role in society, King Abdullah said Tuesday.
 
“One does not need to sacrifice a Muslim identity to be a good citizen,” King Abdullah said at Amsterdam City Hall while on a state visit to the Netherlands.
 
“Islam calls on people to be active participants in public life, to uphold the welfare of the community, to strive for good, not for ourselves alone, but for all — Muslim and non-Muslim alike,” he said.

"It's time to move the peace forward," King Abdullah said in remarks to the Dutch parliament.
