Queen Rania Visits Central Badia

(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department- Amman) – Her Majesty Queen Rania made a visit to Al Badia Al Wousta Women’s Cooperative today, which is the only organization of its kind in the area. Her Majesty checked on the cooperative, toured its facilities and was briefed on its achievements and future plans.

Upon arrival, Her Majesty was received by the head of the cooperative Mrs. Mizna Al Khraisha. Her Majesty toured the cooperative’s facilities including the library, the mosaic workshop, the sewing workshop, the special needs class, class for educating the illiterate and a computer lab.

The Queen sat with some of the beneficiaries, who briefed Her Majesty about their experiences and how the cooperative has benefited the area.

Established in 2004, the Cooperative was initially located at Mrs. Khraisha’s own house to provide several services to local women. In 2008 the Greater Amman Municipality donated a piece of land and built a new building for the cooperative. It currently employs 25 people and serves more than 10 villages with a total population of 20,000 people.

The cooperative aims to help and support the women and children of the Central Badia area, by providing them with training, education and awareness.
