Queen Rania Lays Foundation Stone for Developing Al Salt Secondary School for Boys

(Office of Her Majesty- Press Department- Salt) Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah visited today Al Salt Secondary School for Boys and laid the foundation stone of the fourth phase of its development.

Implemented by the “Royal Commission for Developing Al Salt Secondary School for Boys” and in collaboration with the “Royal Scientific Society”, the fourth development phase will include the construction of a four story building that includes a new library, a science and a computer lab, administrative rooms for teachers, new restrooms, and a new cafeteria.

Along with other dignitaries including H.R.H Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, Minister of Education H.E. Dr. Muhammad Thunaibat, members of the Royal Commission as well as high profile personalities from Al Salt, Queen Rania attended a ceremony held at the school to mark the occasion.

Vice Chairman of the Royal Commission H.E. Marwan Al Hamoud spoke during the event and stressed the important role the Hashemites play in improving education in Jordan.

Eng. Ayman Aarabyat, a member of the Royal Commission, gave a presentation to brief the attendees about the different phases of the project which began following His Late Majesty King Hussein bin Talal’s visit to the school in 1992.

Also during the ceremony, H.E. Marwan Al- Hamoud, presented commemorative shields to H.R.H Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, Farouq Nuwwar, on behalf of H.E. Ahmad Allozi, and Eng. Ayman Arabyat in appreciation of their efforts in developing the school.
Following the ceremony, Queen Rania visited a small exhibition that displays a collection of local and traditional products made by residents of Al Salt.

Al Salt Secondary School for Boys, which was established in 1923, is the first secondary school in Jordan. It went through several development phases based on the directions of His Late Majesty King Hussien Bin Talal in 1992.

After Queen Rania’s visit to the school in 2008, the Royal Commission for Developing Al Salt Secondary School for Boys was formed to oversee and complete the development of the school.
