Queen Rania Attends the Columbia University Middle East Research Center Advisory Board Meeting in NY

(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department- New York) Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah attended the annual Advisory Board meeting of the Columbia University Middle East Research Center in Amman. The meeting took place at Columbia University’s main campus in New York, and comes as a part of Her Majesty’s trip to the US accompanying His Majesty King Abdullah II.

During the meeting, board members, from Jordan and the US, discussed the centers future plans and challenges ahead. Dr. Safwan Masri, the center’s Director, discussed with the board the center’s accomplishments in the past year and its future expansion plans.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed, between the Center, Queen Rania Teachers Academy (QRTA), Teachers College at Columbia University and a group of Saudi organizations aiming at establishing a national teachers training center in Saudi Arabia.

The Columbia University Middle East Research Center was launched in Amman, Jordan, in 2009, as one of the first in a network of Columbia Global Centers. The center provides a base for scholarly activities throughout the Middle East and advances the University's academic partnerships and programs in the region.
