(Office of Her Majesty – Press Department – Mumbai) - Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah visited the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) in Mumbai on Saturday, where she met with a group of prominent Indian women leaders in the fields of business, entrepreneurship, social work, media, and the arts.
Her Majesty was received at the NMACC by Mrs. Isha Ambani, Executive Director of Reliance Retail, before joining the remainder of the women for a roundtable discussion, titled “Celebration of Women Leadership in India.” The conversation centered on their experiences and insights in their various areas of work, and their perspectives on creating positive impact within their fields.
The NMACC is named for its founder, Mrs. Nita Mukesh Ambani, who is also the Founder and Chairperson of the philanthropic Reliance Foundation. Established in 2023, the multi-disciplinary performing arts and cultural complex promotes Indian arts and culture, and hosts a range of productions, exhibitions, and performances, showcasing talent from India and around the world.
While at the center, Queen Rania, joined by Mrs. Isha Ambani, stopped by Swadesh, a Reliance Foundation retail initiative celebrating Indian cultural identity through handcrafted textiles, home decor, and lifestyle pieces.
At Swadesh, Queen Rania observed a number of women engaged in hand embroidery, weaving, and hand-knotted carpet making. The initiative, whose name translates to “of the homeland,” aims to support artisan livelihoods and position Indian craftsmanship within a global context.
Earlier on Saturday, the Queen was hosted by Mr. Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries Limited, and Mrs. Nita Mukesh Ambani, at the Ambani residence.
