(Office of Her Majesty – Press Department – Amman) - Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah visited the East Thuheibeh area in Amman Governorate on Monday, where she met with representatives and beneficiaries of a local charitable society supported by a Royal Hashemite Court (RHC) revolving fund.

Her Majesty was welcomed to the Al Ahd and Al Ittifaq Charitable Society’s headquarters by its president, Farhan Al Methhan, before joining members of its board of directors, who briefed her on the society’s achievements and upcoming goals.

The society operates an array of economic and charitable projects and programs, creating local employment opportunities to support the East Thuheibeh community.

During the meeting, Her Majesty lauded the board members for their diligence and dedication to uplifting their communities, adding that their work is evident of their “deep commitment to the values of solidarity, cooperation, and generosity.”

Al Ahd and Al Ittifaq Charitable Society, in collaboration with the Jordan River Foundation, disperses the RHC-supported fund to members of its community, aiming to empower local residents to launch their own income-generating projects and improve their livelihoods.

Queen Rania also met with some of the society’s beneficiaries, who briefed her on their income-generating projects.

“These enterprises have flourished because they meet the needs of your communities,” Her Majesty said. She also attributed their success to the beneficiaries’ grit and wise management, adding that their efforts have created opportunities for others.

During her tour of East Thuheibeh, the Queen stopped by the area’s sole water purification facility, which provides filtered and ozone-treated tap water to the entire community. She also visited a number of local homes, meeting with several women who serve as their families’ main breadwinners.

Established in 2013 as a multidisciplinary organization, the Al Ahd and Al Ittifaq Charitable Society aims to build the capacities of local families, offering aid to disadvantaged students and the disabled, promoting water and environmental conservation, and hosting vocational training sessions.
