Queen Rania Joins Royal Health Awareness Society Annual Board of Trustees Meeting via Video Call

(Office of Her Majesty – Press Department – Amman) - Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah joined via video call the Royal Health Awareness Society’s (RHAS) annual Board of Trustees meeting on Tuesday, to discuss the society’s accomplishments over the past year and its programs on preventative measures amidst the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. 

RHAS Director General, Hanin Odeh, updated Her Majesty and board members on the society’s revamped work approach in light of the pandemic, like using communication technologies to minimize contact and keep in touch with beneficiaries remotely.  

Odeh also explained the role of RHAS in the national COVID-19 awareness campaign, ‘Elak w Feed’, launched by the Ministry of Health in partnership with UNICEF and the World Health Organization (WHO). 

The campaign uses traditional and social media platforms to inform the public about preventative measures and the importance of immunization against the virus. It also trains volunteers in pandemic-related community engagement, and has published a set of guidelines for dealing with the virus. 

Additionally, Odeh highlighted the Youth Innovation Forum, a joint initiative by RHAS, the Ministry of Youth, and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) that aims to involve Jordanian youth in generating innovative solutions to local community challenges caused by the pandemic. 

During the meeting, Her Majesty asked board members about the effectiveness of RHAS’ various campaigns in reinforcing people’s adherence to proper health and safety measures, and thanked them and their partners for contributing to national efforts in response to the pandemic.

Established in 2005, the Royal Health Awareness Society aims to raise health and safety awareness in Jordan through preventative programs and awareness campaigns. The programs intend to encourage Jordanians to adopt healthy habits and lifestyles through capacity building, and interactive learning RHAS operates within public and private schools, Ministry of Health comprehensive centers, universities, and local communities. The society has multiple public and private sector partnerships at the national and international level.
