Queen Rania Attends Children’s Museum Jordan Board of Trustees Meeting

(Office of Her Majesty – Press Department – Amman) - In her capacity as chairperson of the Children’s Museum Jordan board of trustees, Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah attended the museum’s annual board meeting on Monday, where she was briefed on its newest exhibits and future plans.

Welcomed by Museum Director, Sawsan Dalaq, Her Majesty met the museum’s staff and toured the newly constructed Biodiversity Exhibit, and the recently refurbished Bank Exhibit.

The meeting attended by the Mayor of Amman and Vice President of the Board of Trustees, Yousef Shawarbeh, discussed the museum’s efforts in providing interactive learning experiences in Jordan, and its commitment to preserving the exhibits through continuous maintenance and development.

Designed and developed locally, the Biodiversity Exhibit is the first of its kind in Jordan. Launched in partnership with the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature, the exhibit offers visitors an immersive experience of Jordan’s diverse and unique ecosystems, and introduces them to the different species of plants and animals in the country. It also boasts displays of Jordan’s various geological landscapes.

Since its introduction to the museum, the Biodiversity Exhibit has been a popular tool among teachers, helping them explain this subject to their students more easily.

The Bank Exhibit, which has been in place since 2007, was renovated with the support of Ahli Bank and redesigned in-house to help children understand financial literacy.

Launched by Her Majesty in 2007, The Children’s Museum Jordan is an educational non-profit organization, which is home to 187 indoor and outdoor interactive exhibits. It also houses other educational facilities, including, The Library, The Art Studio, The Tinker Lab, and The Secret Garden. The museum organizes other events, such as year-round programs, science shows and demonstrations, and The Science and Arts Festival. Since its inception, the museum has welcomed over 2.5 million visitors.
