Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah holds honorary lunch for supporters of the Madrasati Initiative

(Office of Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah – Amman – Press Department) Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah held today a lunch at Basman Palace for honoring the supporters of the Madrasati Initiative which has to date included 500 public schools across Jordan in various different stages of Madrasati’s Five Phase framework.

The lunch was held in recognition of all those who supported and partnered with Her Majesty’s Madrasati initiative to ensure Jordanian children receive quality education in environments fertile for creativity and excellence. It included a number of officials and CEOs of private sector companies who support the initiative as well as directors from various civil society institutions.

Queen Rania thanked all contributors and supporters for their efforts and for believing in the success of Madrasati and its importance. Her Majesty referred to the achievements and successes of Madrasati as the greatest indicators of how through working together accomplishments can be solidified.

Thanking the supporters, Her Majesty said: “You have built more than just fences and ceilings. You have built bridges of trust, loyalty, and love.”

During lunch, which was also attended by the Ministers of Education, Minister of Works, Municipalities, Minister of Planning, Director of Madrasati Ms. Tala Sweis showcased accomplishments of the initiative which benefited 135,000 students, 9,000 teachers, and 500 schools. Attendees were shown a film of testimonials from schools that benefited from Madrasati which shed light on the significant impact the initiative had on improving school education, infrastructure, and student behavior. As well, the initiative had the positive impact of lifting the morale of students, teachers, and principals.

Madrasati was launched by Queen Rania in April of 2008 and through its Five Phase framework aims to reform school infrastructure through programs that develop the educational environment in 500 public schools in dire need of aid. Madrasati has brought together in its efforts different stakeholders of Jordanian society from both the public and private sectors as well as youth through volunteerism and local communities through local committees and support groups.
