Queen Rania Attends Fundraising Dinner for “Madrasati Palestine”

December 13, 2010

(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department – Manama) Under the patronage of Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan, and in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Her Majesty attended a fundraising dinner hosted by the Madrasati Palestine Women's Network in Bahrain at the Bahrain National Museum.

In Her remarks, Her Majesty thanked His Highness, the people of Bahrain and the Madrasati Palestine Women’s Network for their generosity and support to the Initiative, which ultimately benefits Palestinian students’ education. Her Majesty added that their work, sense of responsibility and giving, has helped make the daily reality for many Palestinian students in schools a better one.

Launched by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah last April, Madrasati Palestine aims at revamping schools, improving classroom environment, enhancing teaching and learning strategies and improving teachers' standards. The initiative is currently focused on schools in East Jerusalem, which are under the auspices of the Jordanian Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs.

Madrasati Palestine’s work, similar to its Jordanian counterpart, includes physical rehabilitation of East Jerusalem schools, and several educational programs focused on developing a quality learning environment for students, teachers and parents.

During the dinner an auction, presented by Christies House of Auction in London, took place and featured several paintings donated by top Bahraini artists. The proceeds of the auction will benefit Madrasati Palestine and a percentage of the sales will be donated to the Bahrain-based Alia School for Early Intervention.

This Dinner is the second to be hosted by the Madrasati Palestine Women's Network in Bahrain.

The Madrasati Palestine Women’s Network comprises of a group of women from the Arab World who, individually or collectively, organize functions and charity events to raise funds and help further Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah’s initiative, Madrasati Palestine.
