Queen Rania meets with members of the Military Retired Women Society

( Office of Her Majesty- Press Department- Amman) Her Majesty Queen Rania al Abdullah met today with members of the Military Retired Women Society and had the opportunity to listen to them as they briefed here about their goals and accomplishments.

The Queen said she was proud of the women retirees and their determination to continue working, which benefits the retirees themselves, their families, and their communities.

During the meeting, Queen Rania relayed His Majesty King Abdullah II's greetings to all female members and asserted the importance of the society's efforts in utilizing the retirees' experiences in various fields.

President of the Society Retired Lieutenant Colonel Dia Hammad explained that the society was established to empower female military retirees, raise their morale, and implement income generating projects that best suit their needs. She continued to explain that the society also holds a variety of training courses and workshops that aim to benefit its members.

Other attendees told Her Majesty about their experiences as members of the society and how it gave them the opportunity to employ their skills through work in the public and private sectors as well as give back to their communities through various volunteer work.

The Military Retired Women Society was established in 2005 by a group of female retired servicemen. HRH Princess Aisha bint Al Hussein serves as the Honorary President of the society. To date, the number of its members has reached 120.

Alongside working with female retirees, the society also supports the local community through financially helping orphans, underprivileged families, and students. The society had also organized two charitable bazaars, and developed a commercial complex in Al-Fuheis whose profit returns are funneled back into the society to fund other initiatives and benefit its members.
