(Office of Her Majesty- Press Department- Amman) With the Holy Month of Ramadan around the corner, Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah joined young Jordanian volunteers as they prepared for their Ramadan activities at Ras Al Ain Gallery and Hangar in Amman.

Gearing up for the fasting season which is, apart from abstinence, a time for compassion and helping out those who are less fortunate, Queen Rania joined a group of youth from “Jordan Volunteers” preparing food packages to be distributed to underprivileged families throughout Ramadan.

Ms. Islam Bino, Director of Ras Al Ain Gallery and Hangar, Mr. Mo’tasem Masalmeh, President of Jordan Volunteers, and Mr. Mohammad Jaber, Founder of Jordan Volunteers were also present.

The youth explained to Her Majesty how they identify families that need help and walked her through the package preparation process.

Queen Rania then headed to a meeting with another group of young volunteers representing different voluntary groups active in Jordan. She expressed her deep pride in the work they do to help out their communities and noted that individuals’ efforts might seem trivial, but when they collaborate and build partnerships among each other it can have a significant impact.

“It’s not just about the positive effect you bring about”, the Queen told the youth, “but also the high level of commitment that you have shown not only in times of crisis, but throughout the whole year”.

President of Jordan Volunteers Mr. Mo’tasem Masalmeh thanked the Queen for her continuous support for young volunteers in Jordan.

Jordan Volunteers was established in 2009 as a non-profit company ‘Takaful’, under the Ministry of Trade and Industry. It focuses on spreading the culture of voluntary work in the Jordanian society and directing the energy of young people towards helping others through offering time and effort rather than money.
