Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah visits Dar Al Aman
(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department- Amman) – Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah paid a visit to Dar Al Aman today, where she checked up on their facilities and received an update on the latest methods being used for dealing with abused children and their families. Dar Al Aman is part of Her Majesty’s Jordan River Foundation’s Child Safety intervention program.
Accompanied by Ms. Valentina Qussisiya, Director of Jordan River Foundation, Her Majesty met with a group of the “Families and Children Helpline” volunteers who briefed Her Majesty on their role; how they deal with all received calls and the referral process of severe cases of abuse. The meeting was moderated by Ms. Zeina Abu Innab, Acting Director of Dar Al Aman.
Established in 2007, ‘110 for Families and Children’ is a free child helpline that provides psychological support and parenting guidance to empower the child and family in order to protect the well-being of children in Jordan.
Today the helpline is a member of the Child Helpline International (CHI) network; a global member network of children help-lines in 160 countries.
Her Majesty also met with Dar Al Aman social and psychological specialists and counselors to discuss their experiences and challenges. The Queen was also received updates on the new therapy method, “Life Story Book” which had been adopted by Dar Al Aman since Her Majesty’s last visit in January 2010.
