Queen Rania meets with female academics from the University of Jordan
(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department-Amman) In recognition of the leading educational role played by the University of Jordan and its academics as the country’s first higher education institution, Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah met today with a group of female professors, lecturers and teachers from various faculties at the university.
Various topics were discussed in the meeting, during which Queen Rania thanked the group for their dedication and efforts in providing future generations with a high quality education, and most importantly for being role models for students, especially in light of the low rates of employment by female university graduates.
Her Majesty also spoke about the value of youth participation in developing societies, and the importance of investing in them in all fields. The Queen also pointed out that youth volunteerism helps them interact with others, learn more about the job market and acquire new skills.
During the conversation, one of the academics spoke about the importance of instilling in the students the culture of volunteerism at an early age. Another academic noted that Jordanians are blessed with highly educated and motivated youth.
The meeting was attended by two vice presidents, a dean, and academics from the Faculties of Arts, Sciences, Dentistry, Law, Medicine, Educational Sciences, Rehabilitation Science, Pharmacy, Shari’a, Agriculture, Center for Women Studies and the Institute of Archeology.
At the end of the meeting, Her Majesty expressed her wishes to repeat such meeting that open different channels of communication to explore new ideas that help serve local communities.
