King, Queen meet US delegation
King reviews regional developments with Japanese parliamentarians, US delegation
(Jordan Times - Amman) His Majesty King Abdullah on Wednesday met with a delegation of Japanese parliamentarians to discuss the latest political development in the region.
King Abdullah and the visiting parliamentarians examined ways that Japan can further contribute to Middle East issues.
“Japan is ready to play a larger role in the region, not only to provide financial support but also to contribute on the political level, in backing regional stability,” a member of the Japanese House of Representatives, Kono Taro, said at a press conference following the meeting.
During the meeting, the King briefed the delegates on the latest regional developments, particularly the situation in the Palestinian territories and Iraq.
The King stressed the importance of the international community providing assistance to the Palestinians.
Commending the strong relations between the two countries, the Monarch expressed appreciation for Japan’s continued economic assistance to Jordan.
Also on Wednesday, Their Majesties King Abdullah and Queen Rania met with the former governor of Virginia Mark Warner and an accompanying delegation.
Talks focused on Jordan’s efforts to bring the Palestinians and the Israelis back to the negotiation table.
They also reviewed the current situation in Iraq, in addition to the developments regarding the Iranian nuclear programme.
