Queen Rania Receives UAE Medical Mission Shield

(Office of Her Majesty, Press Department - Amman) Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah received representatives from the Emirates World Heart Organization "Zayed Charity Mission" who are currently in Jordan to conduct 30 free open heart surgeries to the underprivileged.

Members of the UAE medical team, presented Queen Rania with a Commemorative Shield for her role, support and contribution to humanitarian causes.

The mission, composed of 16 doctors from the UAE, Canada, the US, South Africa, Holland, Egypt and France is hosted by the Jordanian Ministry of Health.

Working under the umbrella of the Emirates Red Crescent Society to provide aid in the form of free heart surgeries, they also work on the transfer of know-how to doctors as well as the donation of free equipment.

Emirates World Heart Organization is considered a first-of-its-kind mission as it includes professors in cardiac surgery from Mayo Clinic, Harvard, Cleveland Clinic and other university hospitals from around the world.

The mission visited Bahrain, Sudan and Yemen this year and are planning to visit Egypt, Palestine, Syria and Morocco.
