Salam, MADAM
Im Dr MUZAIYAN AHMED KHAN from India a PhD in Medical Biochemistry, MPhil in Biochemistry [1990] and PGDCA in Computers [1999] working in Libyan university as a Faculty in Biochemistry and Chemistry department in College of Sciences Ghariyan,AlJabal AlGharby u
University Zaviyaa, Libya. since 2009. Before this i was in Barkatullah Univeristy Bhopal,India as a faculty in Dentals college and Department of Biochemistry Barkatullah University bhopal.till 2006.
I strong believe in improvement and upgradation of knowledge.
may i know how u r going to implement in arab world.
For upgradation and upliftment of status of students /faculty u should organize the Orientations and Refreshment courses and i hope 4 u this can be possible.
secondly during the schooling of children u have to introduce some interesting courses whic should be career oriented.
thirdly i have no right to suggest u but ifeel this is an essential thing which i can share with u so im .....
I feel a right time and it is a need of time in this era of missiles etc we have to educate ourselves and motivate our self, and to reconstruct the ill minded youths [ muslims] somehow,to obtain a strong will power to fight with the so called dominancy of non muslims.
if we look to the past we found the past had very good moral personalities but now it is lacking the theme at present. why so it is due to lack of courage and lack of directives.
U have to reorganize them via using ther talents in the direction of good medical research and other creative industry. u need to establish the new resources - industry for making your country self reliable and self sufficient. see the example of JAPAN and Korea. After the vast destruction by americans they still proved them as one of the best ! So madam i feel that
our youths now lacking the " Courage to Contribute to Nation "
for this we need to motivate them in aright directions. I want to do some work in this direction to regain the our glorious days.
Thanks i will meet u soon.

Your Majesty,
My name is Zain Dweik I am a US citizen however I was born and raised in Amman Jordan. Currently I am working part-time in academia as a professor in the Aerospace Engineering Department at the University of Cincinnati and a full-time Senior Engineer/Technologist at the General Electric Aviation Company. I have a suggestion and an experience I want to share with you regarding the education system in Jordan.
Starting with the experience, I have a niece who is currently a high-school student in one of the private high schools in Amman, Jordan. She recently moved from one of the public schools to join this private high school in an attempt to be well prepared for the high school diploma (Tawjihi). It did not take her a long time to realize that this school might not be the best option for her. She contacted me asking for help and suggestions. I made several attempts to find any official ranking for the high school in Jordan but I am having no luck. I wonder if there is any ranking for high schools in Jordan? If yes will you kindly direct me where I can find such data?
For the Suggestion Part, I think one of most important aspects of any educational system is the continuous improvement initiative. This initiative normally includes short-term and long-term goals, evaluation process, improvement measures, and setting various targets and criteria for gradual improvement. This type of information will be very useful for the public and parents will be so appreciative of such information. My suggestion is to make such information available for the general public in a separate web site so that both the students and their parents will have the chance to make critical decisions regarding their educational future.
Thank you so much for talking the time to read this
Best Regards
Zain Dweik

The economic crisis. How did we get here?

The Coach K Duke University Conference on Leadership and Ethics hit the nail on the head in my opinion. http://dukechronicle.com/article/coach-k-leadership-conference-promotes-... The root cause is lack of transparency and decisions in isolation. This is an annual conference lead by Coach K and the Duke University/Fuqua School of Business. This year the speakers included such individuals as Coach K, Jerry Colangelo, Mark Reuss (CEO GM USA), Don Browne (CEO Telemundo Communications) to name just a few. We examined ways of increasing transparency and accountability particularly in global development and government.

This Leadership and Ethics Conference highlighted the precise component that is lacking in our society and culture today. The world is facing an economic meltdown unlike anything we have seen since the Great Depression and to a considerable extent it is the result of a lack of accountability. The lack of accountability is the direct result of decisions being made in isolation and without information as Dean Sheppard has stated on several occasions. One of the primary causes of our current crisis was the gradual Congressional repeal of many of the protections (Securities and Exchange Act, Banking Law Act etc.) put in place by the Roosevelt adminstration after the Great Depression, leading ultimately to stated income loan and adjustable rate mortgages which allowed people to obtain loans for homes they could never afford. Mortgage brokers instructed their loan applicants to tell them how much they needed then the broker would write in the amount of income necessary to obtain that loan (a felony). In other cases the mortgage broker would simply tell the applicant to lie (a felony) on the loan application because they had enough income to pay the teaser rate on the adjustable rate mortgage and they could always refinance before the loan adjusts. As a result millions of loans were acquired by people who could never make the payments when the loan adjusted. The reason was that the availability of credit made the price of real estate skyrocket but it was an artificial price. The homes were over valued. This in turn resulted in rampant mortgage fraud. Investors discovered that they could actually obtain a loan for 30% to 40% more than the asking price by convincing the seller to raise the price above the MLS listing and the seller and buyer would split the excess. (I presented over 80 cases to the FBI where this had occurred in California in 2005.) Ponzi schemes were developed where people would use the excess money as downpayments on additional homes. Sometimes people would own 20 or more homes this way. New investor money was used to pay previous investors. Then when the reality set in (that homes were over priced) the price of homes began to fall and people could not refinance which started the foreclosure cycle. One the price of homes began to drop there was a tightening on credit and new investors were not coming in which caused the ponzi schemes to collapse. (New investors are needed to pay the old investors.) As a result the price of homes began to plumate and the rate of foreclosures skyrocketed. As more and more loans defaulted the lending institutions began to collapse which was the beginning of the fall. The merger of the securities and the banking industry created a perfect recipe for a dual nose dive and with collateral swaps and mortgage insurance the insurance/financial and real estate industries took a joint bungy jump. What was the bungy cord? The bailout. Whose skin was used to create the bungy cord? John Q. Public's.

This is a long about way of saying no one was watching the fort from 30,000 feet. Decisions were made in isolation and in secret with a lack of transparancy. The theme of the Leadership and Ethics Conference as I understood it is that this suicide model of economic and cultural development is a petry dish for disaster. There is a difference between right and wrong. Lying on a mortgage application about one's income is wrong regardless of whether everyone else in the country is doing it. For lenders to take advantage of the liars loan to write ridiculous loans because they will be sold to some third party pigeon was wrong. Either no one was looking at the big picture or people simply did not care. The Leadership and Ethics Conference made one point to me that was very clear, and this is what is lacking in most business schools, there is a difference between right and wrong.
